Day Thirteen- Churchill's War Rooms

This morning it was unfornately time to check out of our hotel, but at least we don't have to leave London just yet. After indulging in our free continental breakfast for the last time, we checked out and headed over to Winston Churchill's War Rooms.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a really fascinating museum! We were able to see where Churchill ran World War II from. It's unbelievable how many important decisions were made in that tiny underground space. The bunker was turned into a very nice museum, with some of the rooms looking almost exactly like they did when Churchill and his staff were working there! (The only photo we took is the selfie below outside of the bunker. The giant queue behind us is people trying to get into the war rooms!)

Afterwards, we walked through St. James park back to Buckingham Palace. We planned to visit the staterooms since the Queen is gone on holiday in Scotland for the summer. Unfortunately, we did not think ahead and purchase tickets ahead of time. Instead, we bought tickets for tomorrow and instead walked around some palace gift shops and grabbed a late lunch from a nearby grocery.

By the time we finished, it was about time to check into our Air BnB. So, we hopped on the tube and headed to the east side and found our next home. We went to the grocery store and picked up some dinner and breakfast for tomorrow. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened up the refrigerated  microwave meals we brought home, they had clearly gone bad and smelled awful! So we just gave up and went to the pub down the street for dinner!

Now, it's off to bed!
