Day 61- Walk Along Avenue des Champs-Elysees

Today we got up, stopped by the little bakery by our hotel and got on a bus to the Arc de Triomphe! We ate our sandwiches on a bench looking at the magnificent structure! We also watched all of the cars driving around it, the round about-like intersection is looks very dangerous since there are about 6 lanes of cars kind of doing their own thing- luckily we don’t have to drive!

After sitting there for a while and taking a few photos, we spent the rest of the afternoon making the journey down the Avenue des Champes-Elysees from the Arc de Triomphe all the way to the Louvre! It’s a very pretty Main Street full of cafes and tourist shops. There were also a few beautiful buildings along the way. In fact, we stopped by the Grand Palais and as we walked up we saw a group of people with cameras and several directional signs. We figured out that we had just come across an Issey Miyake fashion show! It had just ended and we watched as everyone walked about of the building in their stylish designer clothes! It was really cool to see and we knew who was important based on how the paparazzi reacted when they walked out!

Today was actually very warm! It was such a nice change from the cool weather we have been having. So, we decided to get some ice cream for our walk! The Parisian man who sold them to us thought it was really cool that we were from Minnesota- the birthplace of Prince!

We sat on a shady bench for a while and enjoyed our ice cream cones! Then we came across a large park with a large fountain. All around the park were groupings of lawn chairs, so we sat for some time while chatting and soaking up the sun!

Eventually, we made it back to the Louvre and then took our two trains back to the hotel! Then for dinner, we ate in and relaxed!
