New Delhi

Day 159- Purana Qila and Khan Market

Today we walked to Purana Qila, which is one of the oldest forts in Delhi!

We expected just to see an old wall with maybe one interesting building, so we were surprised to see how pretty this place was!

It had a small archeological museum where we learned about the history of the city of Delhi and the past capitals of India!

We walked around the fort twice because it was so peaceful. We also thought there would be tourists here, but it was all locals. In fact there were many couples laying in the grass together!

Since there weren’t any other tourists around and we were the only white people, several young people came up to us asking for selfies! They were all so sweet about it, too!

Later in the evening, we headed to the Khan Market where we stopped at a restaurant for dinner and then walked around checking out all of the shops and seeing the pretty clothes for sale!

Day 157 & 158- Travel to New Delhi

Today we left our hotel at check out time and drove to the Arusha airport where we took a much bigger plan than last time back to Dar Es Salaam (however, we had a quick stopover in Zanzibar which was cool to see!).

We arrived in the early evening and then waited a few hours to catch a nighttime 6 hour flight to Doha, Qatar, where we spent a few more hours in the most beautiful airport we have ever seen! The weird thing is. it was about 3 am and the place was packed!

Anyway, we then took a final flight 3.5 hour flight to New Delhi! Then we made it to our hotel in Sundar Nagar, a neighborhood a little southeast of the city and located near the India Gate.

When we walked in the room, we laid down on the bed and only woke up for dinner before going back to sleep for the night!
