Today we decided to go on a day trip to Pella! We thought we should check it out because it is the historical capital of Macedon while it was under the rule of Alexander the Great (Alexander’s namesake)!
We took a couple buses and about an hour and a half to get to this, now, little village. The bus dropped us off outside of town and we walked through it to get to the museum and ruins.
In the middle of town we found this statue of Alexander. Can’t you see the resemblence?
Since it is off season, we were the only ones at the museum! Alexander had a great time connecting with his past-life self :p
We were most impressed by the public bath houses because they had an advanced underground system that brought in warm, clean water and that took out dirty water, along with an underground sewer system! It was also the most preserved area of the city!
Afterwards, we walked back to the bus station and were able to find a bus back to Thessaloniki! Once we got back, we walked to a gyro place and had those for dinner!
